A matchup between two of the top-10 light heavyweights in the world is rumored to occur at UFC 175. According to a report from MMAFighting.com, Daniel Cormier is Very Likely to face legend Dan Henderson at UFC 175 this July in Las Vegas. Previously, Cormier had been linked to a struggle against Rafael Feijao, but the UFC has reportedly thought twice about that matchup and will perform Cormier/Hendo instead. Even though the report was said to be untrue by UFC president Dana White via Twitter, all of us understand that White enjoys to keep these kind of items in house until they are 100 percent official, and undoubtedly as the old saying goes,”Where there is smoke there is fire.” I really do think this matchup involving Cormier and Henderson happens because it’s the fight that makes most sense in the 205lb branch right now. There are a lot of people out there talking about how bad Henderson looked in the initial two rounds of his fight with Shogun Rua in UFC Fight Night 38 a couple weeks past, and he absolutely did not seem like the Hendo of older for the first 10 minutes. However, what people forget is that the struggle was scheduled for 25 minutes, and Henderson got the work done in the minute of the struggle. So I feel like fans and media have been far overly critical of Henderson believing that, you knowthat he won the fight with Shogun. So far as Cormier goes, he has been unbeaten in his mixed martial arts profession and basically untested for the most part as he has been pretty much flawless in all of his fights, including his three in the UFC against Roy Nelson, Frank Mir, and Pat Cummins. However, I truly believe Henderson is a more dangerous fighter than all three of these men, and this fight between DC and Hendo isn’t a walk in the park for DC, despite what some people are saying. That said, obviously Henderson would enter the struggle Cormier has a big favorite, if it really goes down. My guess is that DC opens about -400 for the struggle, one that is likely to function as co-main event of UFC 175 if that event happens. I think that’s a neutral spot for DC, but I wouldn’t surprised at all when the betting public bets him up to a crazy number, either. Hopefully we get confirmation of this bout soon, since I presume Hendo is the right test for DC and when Cormier can finish him in remarkable fashion, he’ll have truly got his title shot against Jon Jones.
